This piece was created over the last 5 years. It started as a feeling I had on this seemingly average day. I was taking a walk in my neighborhood in the afternoon. I took a moment to just look around and admire the trees, the sky, and listen to the birds. I felt so much joy and just felt all of creation was singing praise to its Creator.

This piece is an ode to those moments that might seem insignificant to the onlooker, but completely sacred to the one experiencing it. There are times that are meant for only us. Moments that seem eternal, because we have taken hold of them. All of a sudden: time stops, you look around at all the colors, all the life, and can’t help but feel that all of creation is singing together, and your heart soars and sings with them. I pray this piece is a blessing and a reminder to take hold of your life, moment by moment. Don’t put the worries of life on your shoulders but have faith and praise God. Because God alone holds our tiny yet invaluable lives in His great and capable hands.

She seeks refuge in the garden. Among the roses she hides herself. She craves a quiet escape into the wonder of the forest. As she walks among the roses, their thorns turning against her, she knows the cost of being this close to beauty, she doesn’t mind it. A rose without thorns has been cut down, she prefers them alive, thorns and all.
